It's time to address our kitchen waste.
| | Taysha Murtaugh | | | | | | Spring means longer days, budding trees, and chirping birds, so naturally, at The Spruce Eats, we're thinking green. April is Earth Month, meaning as I tackle spring cleaning, I'm also looking for ways to be more sustainable in the kitchen. Now more than ever, it's so important to be conscious of how much waste we're producing. One of the areas that has the biggest impact is the kitchen. From composting food scraps to carrying a travel mug and storing leftovers in reusable snack bags and storage containers, being mindful of the products you're using can make a huge difference. Made too much of a recipe? Turn it into leftover sandwiches so the excess doesn't go to waste. Learn how to store ingredients in the freezer so you don't have to throw them away before you use them. Save time and make the most of your food by meal planning. And organize your fridge to prevent any stray fruits or vegetables from going bad unnoticed at the back. Beyond the kitchen, there are so many other ways to help the planet: Conserve water and electricity, volunteer in your community, and even plant a tree. Here's to a more eco-friendly kitchen for Earth Day (April 22) and beyond! - Taysha Murtaugh Editorial Director, Commerce | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to The Spruce Eats newsletter.
