 | The end of the year, we celebrate holidays of several faiths. We also celebrate the end of one year and the coming of the next. It is a time when approaching deadlines compete with the distractions of the seasons, a time when you need the most out of your employees and they are the most distracted. Unless you are in retail or hospitality, recognize you aren't going to get maximum productivity out of your employees at this time of the year and focus instead on keeping them motivated so you can get the most you can. Acknowledge the holidays, celebrate the successes of the past year, try to get as much production as you can without becoming a scrooge, and remember that even a scrooge's workers respond better to the carrot than the stick. |
