We were sitting around discussing topics for me to write about and Chris blurted out "floods!" Chris is the only one that owns a house (the rest of us are apartment dwellers). We all turned as he slammed his hands down and yelled, "FLOODS!" Then he ran out of the room. Chris is a man of few words.
I grew up in a flood zone. For a six year old, it was awesome to look out every window of our house and see a sea of brown muck surrounding the house. It was like living in a castle. If you were a parent with a flooding basement, you likely felt different.
It's weird to talk about needing water during a flood, but if you have to evacuate you should be ready to bring some water along. Do you know how much?
LittleBob's room was recently the victim of a flood (neighbors are renovating). I was napping working at home that day and heard it start, so I was able catch it in time. In fact, only the ceiling was damaged. Remember my handy formula: wood floors + water = bad news. What can you do?
